About Kelly Towles
Kelly Towles is a Washington D.C.-based artist whose vibrant murals and innovative studio work have captivated audiences worldwide.1 His journey began uniquely in Alice Springs, Australia, where, after being born in Ohio, he grew up with kangaroos as pets and discovered the magic of anime through BBC – an early exposure that profoundly shaped his artistic vision.
After returning to the U.S. and graduating from the University of Maryland (where he met his amazing wife, Virginia, with whom he now has a son and a "saucy" Siberian husky), Kelly’s career took flight. His distinctive style has led to remarkable collaborations with powerhouses like NASA, NPR, and Red Bull. His signature murals adorn walls in Tokyo, Taipei, Los Angeles, San Francisco, Las Vegas, and Austin. In the studio, he consistently pushes boundaries, often using engraved tile as his canvas.
Beyond his personal art practice, Kelly is a part of local arts community. He proudly serves as the Director and Curator of DC WALLS MURAL FESTIVAL.. He also founded Tow / Les Projects, a dynamic group dedicated to curated projects and art activations. These exciting endeavors are united under the umbrella name MEGA MEGA, encompassing a diverse range of creative expressions from fine art to engaging public activations.
Always looking to collaborate, Kelly and Tow / Les Projects invite talented artists and forward-thinking organizations to connect and contribute their vision to MEGA MEGA projects.
